EFEKTIVITAS BRAIN GYM TERHADAP PENURUNAN TEKANAN DARAH PADA LANSIA DENGAN HIPERTENSI
Main Article Content
Abstract

Hypertension is more familiarly called high blood pressure. Arterial disease caused by chronically elevated blood pressure. This disease has no symptoms which can increase a person's risk of stroke, aneurysm, heart failure, heart attack, and even kidney damage. Good intervention is needed to control blood pressure, especially in the elderly population. One way that can be done is non-pharmacological action. One intervention that is thought to be able to control blood pressure is brain exercise. For this reason, research is needed to determine the effectiveness of brain exercises to reduce blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. The purpose of this research To determine the effectiveness of brain gymnastics to reduce blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. The method that researchers will use is a quasi-experiment by providing brain exercise interventions to elderly people with hypertension. Then an effectiveness analysis was carried out before and after the intervention.Respondent is Pre-elderly and elderly in Jeruksawit Village, Gondangrejo District, Karanganyar Regency. The Research result is the average blood pressure before the intervention with the brain gym was 162.7/100.8 mmHg, while the average blood pressure after the intervention with the brain gym was 141.9/83.02 mmHg. There was a decrease in the mean value of systolic blood pressure of 20.83 mmHg and a decrease in diastolic blood pressure of 17.84 mmHg. Conclusion: Brain gym is effective for lowering blood pressure in pre-elderly and elderly with hypertension (p = 0.001).
